Hector Oxford - aka Inspector Hector.
Hector is an elderly donkey aged 38years, who has the mind and spirit of a young donkey. He's inquisitive, wise and can sniff out a ginger biscuit from 100m away! He's a much-loved donkey and will always have a place in my heart.
Marmaduke and his friend raced to meet me at the gate one afternoon and I just had to try and capture their impish curiosity...!
Apollo was a big-hearted, noble donkey who lived with Myles, Toby and Gypsy the mule. Apollo was a Grand Noir donkey - the father and grandfather of many beach-donkeys on Blackpool and Weston-Super-Mare beaches. He sadly left us and went to the Rainbow Bridge at the end of this summer 2011.
Mr Khan is now 2 years old, although this drawing was done when he was a yearling foal. Mr Khan is the sweetest, dearest little donkey who loves and protects Zena, and keeps a close eye on wayward Ashley.
Toby has a troubled heart and soul - but sometimes finds the courage to let me close for just a moment or two. His eyes are sad but if you are lucky you will notice they are flecked with hope...
Ashley - orphaned at birth and hand-reared. His guardian angels are Mr Khan and Zena...and perhaps us too! I drew this from a photo taken shortly before Ashley turned 1 year old. He has the largest eyes and very pale lashes. Ashley is a special little donkey who needs much understanding and lots of love.
Elemental Donkeys
